An Interview with Jacuzzi Boys

July 7, 2025

Danny Gonzales of Jacuzzi Boys shares insights on the band’s creative process, tour essentials, and Miami roots ahead of their show at The Roxy.

Answers provided by Danny Gonzales of Jacuzzi Boys.

How did Jacuzzi Boys come to be?

Gabriel and Diego had been playing together as a two piece for a few months in early ‘07 but by the end of that year I had met them through a mutual friend. Gabriel had been wanting to add bass to the mix so he just asked me one night when we were all hanging out. I had never played bass but I agreed anyway.

How did the band's Florida roots shape your sound?

I wouldn’t know really ‘cause it’s all second nature, but Miami is a party town so I guess that kept us in a “let’s have fun” kinda mindset.

Describe Jacuzzi Boys in three words.

Tip top magoo

What are you currently listening to?

I just received A Mechanical Joey by Bill Orcutt in the mail today. It’s an exciting listen. I also really enjoyed The Hard Quartet record. And lots of early RnB.

Which song of yours would you recommend to a new listener?

I’d tell them to sit tight and wait for the new tunes we’re getting ready to release.

How do you approach the songwriting + creative process?

We mostly just jam and wait for something to click. If we like it, we’ll record it as a voice memo and if it sticks around it’ll usually become a song.

What are some must-have tour essentials?

Qtips, Listerine, and Advil.

Favorite song to perform live?

Whichever one the crowd screams for on that particular night.

What's next for the Jacuzzi Boys?

A new album we just recorded in Memphis and hopefully more shows.
